The Pacifika Injury Prevention Aukilana (PIPA) is a not-for-profit organisation operating in the Counties Manukau area. It is focused on delivering initiatives and providing advice related to reducing the increasing trend of preventable injuries being suffered by Pacifika Peoples.

Having operated as an informal voluntary organisation for five years, the Committee of PIPA understood they were at a cross roads – formalise the organisation and deliver a valuable service for the long-term or continue to struggle for resources to operate at all. Manukau City Council recognised the importance of PIPA to its community and decided to assist the organisation through sponsoring the engagement of professional planning services to identify the way forward. Through involving key stakeholders, most importantly the volunteers who had contributed to the organisations success to date, BusinessLAB assisted PIPA in documenting a clear road map to follow including the establishment of a formal not-for-profit organisation and the steps required to employ a paid co-ordinator.
